Some hints……

Never leave your belongings unattended on the beach,  hitch hiking back to town naked is not fun !

Don't expect to find the bars busy much before midnight.
Don't arrive at the big clubs before 3am

When travelling in a taxi you will be required to wear a top, so don’t lose it at the foam party because  its a long way to walk back to town.

If a barman offers you a chupito its a small glass of schnapps or liquor , not a sexual favour !

If using the darkrooms in any of the bars or clubs, be careful not to loose any valuables as pickpockets do frequent them and they WILL steal them.

Gay Beaches

Playa Es Cavallet

The favourite beach for gay men, this beach is located about 6km from Ibiza Town, take a taxi (1,200-1,500 pts) or a bus (125 pts) from the bus station area in Isadora Machabich. After being dropped by the bus or  taxi there is a 20minute walk to the gay area of the beach.

This beach is almost 100% gay and nude sunbathing is common. The beach is long and sandy and both sun loungers and umbrellas are available.

This beach also boasts is own restaurant /bar - the Chiringay, which provides a variety of snacks and drinks at reasonable prices.

Behind the beach there are acres of sand dunes and pine bushes …  which is the gay cruising area.

CLUBS

Ibiza has an international reputation as being the place to make both dance records and DJs, and a trip to one or more of the island's many clubs is a must-do for at least one night of your holiday.

Though Ibiza obviously caters to a vast number of straight clubbing tourists, an equal, if not larger proportion of gay visitors to the island count a night out on a sweaty dance floor as a priority.

Many first time visitors are a little mystified as to when, what and where everything is happening. Firstly, apart from ANFORA, you are only ever likely to go to a party held in one of the larger venues - The parties are the event that you will see advertised. (and note that parties do occasionally change venues (sometimes mid season) and occasionally nights. The best source of current 'what's on' information are the daily posters displayed around every square inch of the islands bars and shops.

The only island's party that's exclusively gay, every night, is Anfora. Previously others, Amnesia, Privilege, Pacha and Space, all have gay(ish) parties at least once a week, and the most popular of these is La Troya , held every Wednesday at Amnesia.

The clubs in Ibiza are there if you want them, but if you're not interested in clubs, or clubbing, they will not infringe on your holiday in the slightest.  Ibiza's club scene is possibly the best in the world. It is worth checking out for yourself, whatever your age, or taste in music.

The club scene is very much a part of the Ibiza experience. For up to date information on the Ibiza Club Scene, check out:

Bars

Ibiza old town is the Gay centre of Ibiza. Calle de la Virgen is the main Gay street (Dalt Villa and the port area Sa Penya) are occupied by a large number of gay bars and mixed bars, but the town on the whole is fairly gay friendly. Exhibitions of affection, kissing or holding hands are common sights within the town centre.

Figeuretes, the seaside area of Ibiza town has also developed a gay scene of its on over the last couple of years with four bars and a sauna.

Ibiza Town
A street with a number of gay bars, often called Ibiza’s gay street is Calle de la Virgen, at the end of this street to one side is a short walk to a number of other gay bars such as Angelo, Incognito and the very popular mixed bar Dome.  Within the old town walls there is Ibiza’s only 7-day gay disco Anfora and a number of gay bars including La Murralla and Camp Nonsense.

All of these are within easy walking distance.  An evenings bar crawl would typically begin at the far end on Calle de la Virgen at 11pm and proceed via Angelo 1 – 2 am and may finish within the old town at between 3am and 4 am. Anfora, the gay disco closes at 6am – 6.30

The crowd tends to move around a lot so if a bar had been busy at say midnight may be dead by 1am.

Teatro - Called de la Virgen 83  At the far end of Calle de la Virgin David runs this very friendly gay bar. Very popular with both British and Continental visitors, the inside of the bar boasts a fine selection of theatrical prints and its balcony gives magnificent views of the harbour. The bar also has a large terrace. Popular from 11pm until about 1am

Calle de la Virgen 79 Small friendly a short walk from Teatro, quite popular with French speaking and exclusively gay busy between 11.30 pm and 1am

Leon - (Calle de la Virgen 62) This small bar is run by Erwin a very friendly German who welcomes all visitors with equal enthusiasm. The upstairs section is always quiet for more intimate moments. Although busier between 11pm and 1am Leon tends to stay open later than the neighboring bars.

Half way down the Calle de la Virgen a group of bars in very close proximity form one of the busiest gay areas on the Ibiza gay scene, very busy from around 11 pm until 2 am.
Capricco Calle de la Virgen 42 Very popular with a variety of German British and other visitors.

Cargo Calle de la virgen 61 -

Exis Calle de la virgen 57-  Very well established Bar particularly popular with German clients

Samsara Calle de la virgen 44 – Show bar, entry fee, shows around 12 midnight

Foc i Fum Calle de la virgen 55 – Former Restaurant – Directly opposite Cappicco

Indira Calle de la virgen 40 -  One of the few bars in Calle de la Virgen to open all year round. though only at the weekends in the winter months, popular with a younger Spanish crowd.

Further down the street you will come to:

Bar 22 Calle de la virgen 22 -

Toms Bar  (Velvet)- Calle de la Virgen 14 - Hidden halfway up a back alley, this fairly large bar opened in 2001, friendly owner and  young international clientele  with occasional guest DJs mixing the upfront tunes.

La Nada - Calle de la virgen 10 Friendly bar with local feel, very German

The Back Bar   New in 2001 this bar is well hidden, next door to the rear terrace of Studio Restaurant, this is set to become the destination for the hard horny crowd visiting Ibiza catering especially for the rough crowd, dirty skins, mohechans and S& M queens all particularly welcome - worth a visit to meet Jeff and Paul the very friendly owners.

Angelos - Calle Alfonso XII - 11  This is probably the largest gay bar in Ibiza featuring a huge terrace, a large indoor bar which managed by the very accommodating Vaughan which is a popular meeting place for locals before going on to Anfora The terrace is packed from 12 midnight until 3 am. Very cruisey.

Incognito - Calle  Santa Lucia 23 - 21 This large cruisy terrace bar is just above Angelos, both bars are at the base of the gigantic inner city walls. A very popular bar busy between 12.30 am and 3am.

Dome - Calle  d Alfonso XII 5  Ahough not strictly a gay bar this is the place to see and be seen. The beautiful people of all persuasions assemble here between midnight and 3am before moving on to one of the islands exotic Discos.   Dress outrageously and expect to pay for your drinks!

Oriental - C/ Alfonso XII, 3 - Next to Dome soak up the atmosphere !

La Muralla - Calle  Santa Carrossa 2 Literally translated this means "the wall" situated with the old town walls this is the place to relax and chat, quieter than many of the other bars (though no less busy)

Camp Nonsense - Next door to La Muralla  Home of the well know Ibiza institution Simona, also a very popular bar in the winter months the atmosphere here is quite different to other gay bars in Ibiza, the music is camp, think Julie Andrews on acid, the conversation is always flowing and it stays open really late, sometimes offering an early morning watering hole for post Anfora refugees.

Figueretes

Bar Kitsch  - Calle Ramon Muntaner - Figueretes  Figueretes’s only all year round gay bar offering an alternative evening to Ibiza Town, a large terrace, a lavishly decorated upstairs bar and even its own darkroom make this a welcome addition to the Figueretes scene. Monroe's - Calle  Ramon Muntaner 33 - Figueretes   Friendly Café Bar offering everything from Breakfast to bedtime drinks this is the daytime meeting place for many gay visitors who stay at one of the surrounding gay apartments or Hotels. Also boast drag shows and bingo, great bar if you'd  wanted Blackpool but it was full !!!!

DJs - Side of Edificio Principe  Small very friendly bar at the side of Edicifio Principe. Open from 3pm until 3 am each day. Well worth a visit in the afternoon after the beach or later if you fancy giving the town a miss. This is one of the few gay bars in Ibiza, which has a sea view from its terrace.

Magnus - Pasio Maritmo -Figueretes  German owned bar / cafeteria offering a range of  meals and drinks into the early hours, situated on the main promenade in Figueretes it’s a great place to sit and watch the crowds pass by or jut read the newspapers
